Carpentry Almost Complete!

Well, the carpentry work is almost complete!  We just picked all of the paint colors and the painters should get started in about a week!  There's not a lot of tile in the house, but that will be our next decision to make.  It's looking great and we are SO ready to move in!

View of kitchen/great room from back porch.  We decided to use the organ pipes from the church in France on our entertainment center.

Dining hutch still in the works.

Media room.  Still some work to be done in here!

The girls love the blue doors!!!

I think a small vase of fresh flowers would look adorable in this spot!

A Door in the Sky!

Well, not quite......but in a way.  When we found the front door, it originally came with a gorgeous transom above it.  It was so beautiful that we were having a hard time putting it above the front door where it would hardly ever be seen.  SO....we decided to hang it in the kitchen/living room.  It is stripped on one side and we will likely end up stripping the other.  We plan to add paneling to finish out on each side.  It's carved differently on each side, which adds so much to the character!

It's kinda difficult to see the carvings on this side due to the lighting.  Hopefully I'll get a better pic for you soon!

Carpentry is Underway!

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I guess things kinda start to slow down at this phase!  Drywall is complete and carpentry work is underway.  Jose the carpenter is an artist and is working his magic to turn this house into a home!

Finally got this exterior door in!  It came from a lawyer's office in a demoed building in Philadelphia.

Media Room!  These are hand painted canvas panels from a theatre in Italy.  They will go on each side of the room and then a smaller pair will frame each side of the screen.

There are 2 of these and they will hang on barn rails outside the media room.  They came from England and have about 20 layers of paint on them!  We've decide to leave them as is instead of stripping them!

This transom originally went over the front door.  We're going to put it in the kitchen/great room.  Jose is still trying to figure out how to hang it!!!

We picked up a bunch of these cornices in NOLA and they go above the doorways!
